In 2014 I was tasked with creating the first-ever Alternative Press Magazine awards show dedicated to the world of  punk, alternative and heavy metal. Alternative Press has a rich, 29-year old history and wanted to celebrate all the best in contemporary music. My main goal was turning Alternative Press from a magazine into a major event brand and media player. We booked the 2014 APMAS to take place at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.

The Event:
To create a large enough spectacle for the first-ever AP Awards, we first were able to route the entire 2014 Vans Warped Tour, The 2014 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and the Fall Out Boy/Paramore concerts all to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on their scheduled off days. This created a perfect storm of every available artist and band in this music universe to attend, perform and participate. Hosted by Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus, highlights from the show included live performances and appearances from  Fall Out Boy, Joan Jett, The Misfits, Ice-T and Bodycount, A Day To Remember, Slash, Korn, All Time Low, New Found Glory, Joe Perry, twenty one pilots, Asking Alexandria, Paramore, Bring Me the Horizon, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, Yellowcard and Blink 182. and over 50 more bands and artists. Over 6,500 fans attended the event, which featured two stages, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame takeover, a day-long boat cruise and a red-carpet pre-show. The entire show was broadcast live in its’ entirety on AXS TV and trended #1 worldwide on Twitter and Facebook. The 2014 APMAs delivered a grand total of 2.5 billion impressions. Song Of The Year winner “A Love Like War” by All Time Low shot to the top of Billboard’s Trending chart during the event as well.
